If you could choose one word to describe the Carousel culture, what would it be, and why?

Teamwork. I would never be able to do my job successfully without the help of my peers. Behind each of our customers, there is a full support system in place consisting of a presales team, project team, service contracts team, etc.  The Carousel Crew is always willing to get involved and help each other out. It’s a very inviting work culture.

What are you most excited for regarding the future of the technology industry?

I know it’s scary to think about, and every movie with robots ends poorly for humans, but I’m really looking forward to artificial intelligence/machine learning; it’s happening and so fast. It’s already so prevalent in businesses and our personal lives, but I think the next few years will really change the way we live our daily lives. As excited as artificial intelligence is, it’ll be important for cyber security to grow just as fast.

What technology innovation made the most impact on your life? My cell phone. And if there’s an app for it, I’ll download it. My friends joke about how I can miss their calls despite my phone permanently attached to my hand.  Sure, maybe I have zero sense of direction because when I get in the car I plug an address into a GPS, but my cell phone is a combination of so many tools to make my everyday better and more enjoyable! It’s a crazy amount of power in the palm of your hand.

It’s not just me though. Consumer technology often drives corporate technology. Being able to click a button to FaceTime makes businesses expect the same seamless experience. I think this is why I’m passionate toward UC. A ‘call’ is no longer picking up a desk phone and dialing a number. A ‘call’ could also be an instant message, video call, or a combination of a few mediums.

What was the most memorable gift you’ve received and why? For my 18th birthday, my Mom rented me a very old Dodge Neon and taught me how to drive standard. It was epic…for me, not that poor Dodge Neon. I’m the type of guy who likes to do, or at least try to do, everything. I hate not knowing how to do something. My parents, sister, and I have traveled to Italy a few times growing up to vacation/visit family since my Mom was born in a small town called Ripi. Every car in Europe at the time was standard and I was fascinated. I’m still driving standard in my Jeep Wrangler and if you don’t drive stick, you’re missing out!

If you could invent something, what would it be and why? Teleportation is a commonly used word for a concept that doesn’t exist. That may be a stretch for my invention so I’d settle for faster travel. I’m an original east coaster to happily relocated Californian with friends and family across the states; I’d definitely appreciate a faster mode of transportation to the people I love! I’d also like to travel abroad and explore other cultures. Humbling to think the United States is just shy of 5% of the Earth’s total population.
