Family of Pete Frates to Host Public Ice Bucket Challenge

NWN Carousel to Sponsor August 9th Event at Massachusetts Statehouse at 11 a.m.

Boston, MA., Aug. 2, 2023 —  The family of Pete Frates will host the 9th annual ALS Ice Bucket Challenge event for the public in his honor on Wednesday August 9, 2023 at the front steps of the Massachusetts Statehouse at 11 a.m.

The event, sponsored by  NWN Carousel, the leading Cloud Communications Service Provider offering integrated solutions for today’s Hybrid Work environments,  will officially kick-off Ice Bucket Challenge month in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  Pete Frates is known around the world as the co-creator of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, which has raised more than $220 million to fund research for an ALS cure. Frates lost his own lengthy battle with the disease in 2019. ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects a person’s motor function and muscle movement. This year, along with raising donations and awareness for ALS, the Frates family & NWN Carousel speak about the critical need to protect the rights of all people living with disabilities and their caregivers to continue to engage in hybrid or remote work post pandemic.

“Having been a caregiver to a spouse for nearly 10 years, I cannot imagine how I would have managed my husband’s care while working outside my home,” says Julie Frates, wife of Pete Frates. “Not only would my mental health be compromised but most certainly the level of care my husband received would’ve diminished. We hope that everyone will join us for the Ice Bucket Challenge in honor of Pete and all those living with disabilities.”

“At NWN Carousel, we believe in the power of hybrid work technology to create a world where individuals with disabilities and their caretakers can contribute their talents and skills on an equal footing with their peers.” said Andrew Gilman, NWN Carousel’s Chief Marketing Officer, “Together, we can create a world where no caregiver is burdened by a lack of support, and where individuals with disabilities are empowered to pursue their passions and careers with the same opportunities as anyone else. We hope that by partnering with the Pete Frates Foundation on this 9th annual Ice Bucket Challenge, it will serve as a symbol of our determination to bring about positive change in the lives of those affected by ALS and disabilities.”
